In the period from January to May 2024, Uzbekistan exported 722.1 thousand tons of vegetables and fruits, which is 10.4% more compared to the same period last year.

According to the Statistics Agency, Russia became the main buyer of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products, which accounted for more than 32% of total exports. The top five key buyers also included Pakistan, Kazakhstan, China and Afghanistan.

The total value of exports amounted to $420 million. Uzbekistan received the largest revenue from the sale of onions ($44 million), cabbage ($41.2 million) and mash ($26.8 million).

EastFruit analysts state that during the first month of the minimum export prices, exporters of vegetables and fruits, farmers who grow them, and the country's budget probably do not receive foreign exchange earnings. All this is happening against the background of stagnation of fruit and vegetable exports and an extremely difficult situation in some of its large segments, such as the greenhouse business, which Uzbekistan is gradually losing in competition with Turkmenistan.
