The Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia

    Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin held a working meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev.

    Alexander Bastrykin noted that today's meeting is a good opportunity to exchange assessments of the current situation and prospects for our joint work, including taking into account the long break caused by the pandemic, the press service of the RF IC reports.

    The first meeting, held in March 2020 in Tashkent, served as the beginning of constructive and fruitful development of bilateral cooperation between the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

    In line with mutual interest in the further dynamic development of full-scale contacts between the law enforcement agencies of Russia and Uzbekistan, the parties also discussed issues on the bilateral agenda.

    The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere of mutual understanding and became another step towards the development of international cooperation between the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and law enforcement agencies of the CIS member states.

    The Head of the Russian IC stressed that in an environment where crime is becoming more and more characterized by developed interregional and transnational ties, the interaction of our departments is becoming an important lever in the fight against crime.

    The Chairman of the Investigative Committee highly appreciated the quality and efficiency of legal assistance from colleagues from the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as positive experience in training personnel, sharing knowledge and experience in countering criminal activity.

    The Prosecutors General of Russia and Uzbekistan noted the need to sign an updated Program of cooperation between the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed for the first time during A. Bastrykin's visit to Uzbekistan in 2020.

    In addition, the parties highly appreciated the relations between Russia and Uzbekistan, based on long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual respect, expressing confidence in further strategic partnership and alliance in the interests of ensuring stability and security in the Central Asian region.
