Prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia were discussed

On April 8 of this year, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva held a meeting with a delegation headed by Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili, who is on a working visit to our country.

The issues of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchange, and bringing interparliamentary ties between the two countries to a new level were considered.

In recent years, trade indicators and the number of joint projects have been growing. In 2023, the trade turnover increased by 23%. During the dialogue, an exchange of views took place on the use of the existing potential and capabilities of the countries, the implementation of joint projects in transport and logistics, banking and financial, and tourism areas.

During the dialogue, attention was focused on the activation of cultural and humanitarian ties for the rapprochement of peoples. It was noted that the peoples of Uzbekistan and Georgia traditionally have strong ties of friendship, and the frequent holding of cultural events serves to develop ties between peoples very close in spirit and traditions.

In order to ensure the effective implementation of the high-level agreements reached between the two countries, attention is paid to establishing regular communication between parliaments, increasing the role of interparliamentary friendship groups as coordinators in this process.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached on strengthening gender equality, ties between regions, and the development of cooperation within international organizations.
