On July 3, an Uzbek-Afghan business forum was held in Tashkent. It discussed aspects related to the further development of trade relations between our countries.

The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mamanbiy Omarov, who called for continued work to ensure uninterrupted transportation, full realization of the transit potential of our countries, and expansion of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.

It should be noted that Afghanistan is one of the important links in ensuring regional connectivity between Central and South Asia. In recent years, the volume of cargo transportation across Afghanistan has increased significantly. In 2023, the volume of cargo transportation along the multimodal transport corridor "Uzbekistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan" increased 1.5 times compared to 2021.

In turn, Uzbekistan is also an optimal transit partner for Afghanistan. In order to reduce the cost of transporting Afghan goods through the territory of Uzbekistan, a number of benefits were provided for road and rail transportation.

First Deputy Minister of Transport Mamanbiy Omarov expressed confidence that the development of bilateral and transit transportation should be mutually beneficial for each state, and therefore mutually beneficial, equal payments for Uzbek goods will be introduced in Afghanistan as soon as possible.

"We are also ready to jointly develop and sign a transit agreement between Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as join the Chobahar Agreement," Omarov said.
