Uzbekistan to head the CIS Space Council in 2024-2025

    Uzbekistan will chair the Interstate Space Council of the CIS countries in 2024-2025. The decision on this was made within the framework of the 5th meeting of the council, which is taking place these days in Tashkent.

    "The CIS Executive Committee proposes to elect Kadirov Shukhrat Munnavarovich, a member of the Council from the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the Agency for Space Research of Technologies under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as Chairman of the Council for 2024-2025," said Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee.

    The participants of the meeting unanimously supported the candidacy of the head of Uzbekkosmos, RIA Novosti reports.

    It was noted that, in accordance with regulatory documents, each CIS country takes over the chairmanship of the council in alphabetical order. In 2023-2024, Tajikistan was the chairman of this structure of the Commonwealth.

    "I would like to propose to bring our cooperation in the field of space education to a qualitatively new level and initiate the implementation of joint projects to improve the skills of young specialists," said Sh. Kadirov.

    The head of Uzbekcosmos noted that the council faces ambitious tasks to develop space activities in the coming years, coordinate efforts within the UN and further deepen cooperation in the field of space technologies.
