The first joint anti-terrorist exercises of the CIS and the SCO were held in Bishkek

    The first joint antiterrorist exercises of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) "Eurasia - Antiterrorism - 2023" were held in Bishkek.

    The exercises were held within the framework of the first conference of the CIS member states on combating terrorism and extremism, which was held in Bishkek yesterday, September 20, Kabar reports.

    The competent authorities of 11 countries participated in them: Armenia, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

    During the active phase of the exercises, the security forces released the "hostages" and neutralized the "terrorists" at three facilities - a thermal power plant, transport and a correctional colony in Bishkek.

    The heads of foreign delegations noted that these exercises were an important step to strengthen the anti-terrorist potential of the CIS and SCO countries.

    They are held for the first time within the framework of the interaction of two international organizations with the simultaneous performance of some training tasks, the same goals and environment, as well as the place and time of their holding.
