A meeting of heads of border agencies of the CIS member states took place in Khiva

    On March 28, 2024, the 8th regional meeting of heads of border agencies of the CIS member states was held in Khiva.

    The event was attended by delegations of the border agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Coordination Service of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops, as well as, as invited, delegations of the Anti-Terrorist Center of the CIS member States and the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure.

    The participants of the meeting considered the impact of modern geopolitical factors on the complex of challenges and threats to border security at the external borders of the CIS member states of the Central Asian region and developed measures to counter them.

    The heads of the delegations stated that the Council of Commanders has established itself as an effective interstate platform for the development and implementation of consolidated approaches on topical issues of border security.

    They supported the position on the importance of further development and strengthening of border cooperation based on mutual understanding, trust and good-neighborliness, as well as the development of UPC by maximizing its potential in building multilateral cooperation in the border area, including with the working structures of relevant international organizations.
