The conference discusses the role of interparliamentary diplomacy in the context of modern global threats, social instability, armed conflicts and climate change, issues of strengthening international cooperation, ensuring peace, promoting the principles of fair governance and ensuring the active participation of national parliaments in improving the well-being of the population.
In her speech, Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva highlighted the democratic reforms carried out by the head of state, the development of parliamentary diplomacy, as well as efforts to strengthen regional and international cooperation.
The results of the 150th Assembly of the Member States of the Interparliamentary Union, held in Tashkent in April this year, were also highly appreciated.
In particular, the Tashkent Declaration and two important resolutions on peaceful conflict resolution and the promotion of sustainable development, adopted at the end of the Assembly, were recognized as a practical expression of global interparliamentary solidarity.
During the conference, the delegation put forward a number of initiatives. In particular, the need to strengthen the role of parliaments in resolving conflicts through political and diplomatic means, and broad support for peace initiatives based on international law and the UN Charter was emphasized.
As part of the support for young parliamentarians, an initiative has been put forward to hold the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in 2026 jointly with the Interparliamentary Union.
It was also noted that in September 2025, an international conference on poverty Reduction is planned to be held in Uzbekistan with the broad involvement of representatives of foreign parliaments, non-governmental organizations and experts.
