Presidents get acquainted with the exhibition of Tajikistan agricultural products

    President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited the Vahdati Millat (National Unity) Garden in Gafurov district of Sughd region.

    The Syrdarya river flows through the Sughd region, due to which agriculture is widely developed here, especially the production of fruits and vegetables. The region accounts for almost 43 percent of the total agricultural production of the country.

    The Vahdati Millat Garden was established in 2008. Fruit trees are grown in 500 hectares of the 700-hectare garden. There is a refrigeration room with a capacity of up to 300 tons.

    Since 2018, fish farming has also been established. Four ponds are used to breed fish of such species as grass carp, silver carp and carp.

    Uzbekistan – Tajikistan cooperation in agriculture is developing dynamically. During the high-level meetings, many partnership agreements were signed in the agricultural sector. During this visit, the President of Uzbekistan signed a roadmap for further development of cooperation in agriculture.

    The Presidents got acquainted with the exhibition of agricultural products of Tajikistan organized in the garden. Responsible persons of the two countries were given instructions regarding the mutual supply of fruit and vegetable products, their storage and export.

    Thereupon, the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan has ended. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has seen off the President of Uzbekistan at Khujand International Airport.
