A bachelor's degree in Sustainable Transport Systems will be created at universities in Uzbekistan

    On March 1, 2024, the project "Launching the Bachelor's degree in Sustainable Transport Systems" ("SPHERE") within the framework of the Erasmus+ program was launched The European Union with 4 higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan.

    On March 12-13, an official conference on the launch of the SPHERE project was held at the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.

    Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongratbai Sharipov spoke about the importance of this project in terms of further ensuring the financial stability of universities in Uzbekistan and strengthening their material and technical base.

    "The launch of the new SPHERE project with a total cost of 800,000 euros will make an effective contribution to the development of green transport in our country. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to organize a bachelor's degree course "Sustainable transport systems" in participating universities of Uzbekistan," the minister stressed.

    During the event, the participants were provided with detailed information about the measures that will be implemented within the framework of the project.

    The project is planned to be implemented in 2024-2027, during which the participating universities will be provided with the necessary laboratory equipment, software and literature will be provided, and 72 professors will be trained at European universities. Bachelor's and master's degree programs will be developed, including at least 70 new courses.

    At the same time, it is planned to train specialists from at least 10 different interested companies in the field of transport. 12 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate students created within the framework of the project will participate in the exchange program at European universities.

    The project will be implemented through the international accreditation of 5 educational programs (4 bachelor's and 1 master's degrees) and the modernization of 1 bachelor's degree program in accordance with national standards and the Bologna Declaration.

    Project participants from Uzbekistan: Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, Tashkent State Transport University, Tashkent International University of Kim, Jizzakh branch of the National University of Uzbekistan, LLC Transport Research Center.

    The project participants from Europe are: University of Maribor (Slovenia), Polytechnic University of Crete (Greece), Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain), Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy).
